Hailed
by Opera News for her “lovely plush lyric
mezzo,” and “dramatic sensitivity,” Leah Wool is
rapidly garnering critical acclaim for her
performances across the country. In 2007-2008, Ms.
Wool returns to the Metropolitan Opera for
performances of the Second Bridesmaid in Le Nozze
di Figaro and Marshal Murat's Adjutant in War
and Peace, joins fellow Yale Opera alumni in
concert at Weill Recital Hall as part of the
inaugural "Yale at Carnegie" series, returns to the
Newton Symphony Orchestra as Hansel in
Hansel and Gretel, and makes her role debut as
Angelina in La Cenerentola with Opera New
Jersey.
Ms. Wool recently made her debut with the
Metropolitan Opera as the Second Novice in
Suor Angelica, and her Carnegie Hall
debut as the alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah with
the Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra. In summer 2007,
she made a highly acclaimed return to Central
City Opera, singing the title role in Massenet’s
Cendrillon. Career highlights also include
Hansel in Hansel and Gretel at Opera
Theatre of St. Louis, her role debut as Rosina
in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with the Newton
Symphony Orchestra, her New York City Opera
debut as Delia in Il Viaggio a Reims, and
Nancy in Albert Herring with Gotham
Chamber Opera. In spring 2005, Ms. Wool was
invited to join a group of sixteen Yale Opera alumni
in a collaborative project to record the complete
songs of Charles Ives, for upcoming release on Naxos
Records.
