For our 2012 season we are proud to present Puccini’s popular La Bohème in July and in October Menotti’s Help, Help, the Globolinks! will delight children and adults alike. Tickets for these performances are now available online and you can save you time and money with season tickets! Additionally, you'll want to get a ticket for our fun annual gala fundraiser opera, this year featuring The Stoned Guest, a humorous piece by Peter Schickele, better known to most of you as P.D.Q. Bach. READ MORE ABOUT OUR 2012 SEASON —

We finished our 2011 season on November 5, when we presented Little Red Riding Hood, a children’s opera by S. Barab, at Oehring Auditorium in North Pole. Visiting Technical Director Chris Reay from Seattle Opera provided tech training for the North Pole High School theater students working with the production.

We hope you are familiar with the quality of the productions that we have brought to Fairbanks, with highly talented singers and a superb orchestra composed of local musicians. Along with the established voices we bring in from the Metropolitan Opera, we showcase talented Alaskans who get a chance to perform with experienced professionals and advance their careers in important ways. You might wonder how we manage it on our slender budgets. Of course, it requires a cooperative community effort: the work of volunteers and generous contributions from local individuals and organizations make our operas possible.Fairbanks has impressed a number of well known singers with our Alaskan hospitality, and that is why they return to sing for us and why they recommend us to their friends.

Opera is an expensive undertaking, and volunteers cannot do it all. Musicians and singers need to be paid, halls need to be rented, and then there are airline tickets, music royalties, costumes, set construction, and many other components. Can you help Opera Fairbanks with a contribution? We rely on you “behind the scenes” to help us brighten each season with beautiful productions. In-kind donations are also very welcome and may include housing for visiting artists, airline mileage tickets, and many other services.
